The National Statistics Bureau (NSB) of Bhutan has been awarded the 2026 Natural Capital Young Leaders Prize by the Natural Capital Alliance at Stanford University.
The award recognizes NSB’s technical leadership and contribution to developing and launching Bhutan’s Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP). The prize has so far been awarded to only nine individuals globally for their work in advancing natural capital accounting.
The award was accepted on behalf of NSB by Ambassador Tenzin Rondel Wangchuk, Bhutan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, in the presence of Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay in New York on 25 September 2026.
